Brief

The proposed action includes the expansion of the existing cemetery by 104 acres. The expansion will provide approximately 11,000 additional interment sites, consisting of preplaced gravesite casket crypts, gravesites for casket interments, columbarium niches, and in-ground cremation gravesites. The RVA team prepared the draft and final Environmental Assessment and FONSI, managed the technical subconsultants, completed the public noticing, and lead consultation with the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).

RVA also conducted early consultation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Arizona Department of Game and Fish, and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) regarding permit requirements. RVA successfully completed approval of the regulatory permit process. Key topics included biological resources, hydrology and water quality, aesthetics, air quality and noise.
